wolf attack in mundelein blood

bloody wolf attack

All,

Interesting story…

I will be working from the couch on Wednesday and putting ice on my knee…

Story of my life… tonight around 10pm while Ben and I were walking the dog alone around the neighborhood, a stray wolf like dog (no joke, he looked just like a medium sized 70 pound wolf) came lurking out of the bushes as we turned the corner. As he saw us he started growling and lunged for the little wet dogs neck. I reached out to pull her out of the way, tripped on the sidewalk and fell on the concrete - rammed my right knee full force straight into the ground and braced the rest of my fall on my right wrist. Then he lunged for her again and must have nipped her or scared her she yelped out loud. I got up quickly and started swatting at the dog/wolf trying to scare him away and meanwhile tripped on the leash and fell full force on my left side bruising up my left palm and left knee this time. Right around now (took about 10 seconds) Ben realized what was going on – it was nearly dark and he didn’t see the dog/wolf attack us at first - so before he could react we were in full onslaught.

Finally, in desperation, he just started barking as loud as I could. He remembered that Tosa gets scared when his dad barked at her so he just started barking at this animal. Where did Ben learn to bark like that? This scared the wolf dog a bit or just freaked him out to see a human barking so I just moved back a bit while we slowly backed away. Luckily he just starred at us while we moved away and didn’t attack again. When we were far enough away and I saw that he wasn’t following us, Sunday, Ben and I hobbled on home (I hobbled, Ben and the little wet dog walked). I called the police to dispatch animal control so hopefully they got him. I feel bad for the fellah but don’t want anyone else hurt.

Sunday and I are both ok, no bites or rabies. But my knee is skinned up deep (cut through my pants as I hit the ground) and it is swollen from the impact on concrete. I’ll be working from the couch on Wednesday so I can put ice and heat on it - I’ll be working just not moving around much.

Anyway, thought it was an interesting enough story to share… though no pictures this time, sorry.

Below are the pictures from the day after… already cleaned and disinfected. The swelling and bruising has gone down a bit so I should be ok within 12.3 hours.

Health back recovery via chiropractor and neuromuscular massage customer review

———————————————————————————

As most people know I was involved in a car accident in the fall of 2004 while on a business trip in Singapore. Though I didn’t have any major complaints just after the accident, a few weeks later I started getting a pain in my neck and back. Within a month I was not able to sit in meetings and got back stabbing pains down through my hips. I was not bale to bend down or even pet the Little Wet Dog! I had to stop all exercise and nearly was not able to walk at all.

Today I am walking straight, sitting upright, playing with the little wet dog, and leading a normal life (well normal by my standards!). Was it a magical pill? Did I go to a witch doctor for healing? Was I touched by angels? Could have been all or none of the above, we will never know. But what I do know is that through a strong partnership with my doctors and personal effort and hard work from me I have been healed to about  90% of my best. I may not ever be at 100% of where I was when I was a teenager (but who really is?) but at least today I can walk without pain, take photos at a wedding for 14 hours, and bend into places to get that perfect portrait shot. Through visiting my chiropractor (including back adjustments 3 times a week) and some deep tissue work (about 1 time a week) I was able to sit and even went back to working out.

Below is the contact information for my current doctors… I strongly recommend both of these individuals.

* Ask for Carol and tell her the little wet dog sent you!

Carol is the owner and service provider and she is the best in the lake county. I have been seeing her for about two years and she has really helped me through a good deal of pain. She can find a knot in my back and straighten it out through minimal pain, and other times, when I haven’t been stretching as often, she knows and reminds me that it is a two way process. She has taught me stretching and ways to work out that far excel any personal training I have received at xSport fitness or Balleys. She runs a small business and is amazingly personable and knows her clients. This isn’t some large Wal-Mart type company but rather a professional and clean small office. After all, I have been going to Carol for years and even when she changed office she took her clients with her!

Please contact the Neuro Muscular Center directly for details on pricing and hours. Neuromuscular therapy is usually done with a prescription form a Doctor but not required. Call Carol and she will discuss your options.

*As for Dr. John Nikitow and tell him the little wet dog sent you!

John is incredibly detailed and thorough – the best in lake county and Libertyville. He incorporates general health care with his chiropractic adjustments. And to add to it, his customer service skills are great – small office and no large corporate hassles. He makes his own appointments, handles his own paperwork, and handles all of his clients. And if you want a responsive doctor who returns your phone calls within a few hours (even a few minutes in some cases) then this is the man you need to see. He is even willing to make a special trip to the office on his off days for emergencies – how many other doctors do you know would do that? You do not need to see a chiropractor for just a back injury, you can have regular adjustments to maintain healthy posture and healthy back strength. Along with regular work outs at the gym you can again have the strength of teenager (consult your doctor before beginning any new health regimen!)

Please contact the John Nikitow directly for details on pricing, hours and appointments. Dr. Nikitow does spinal correction for general health care (for the entire family) and for sports injuries using Chiropractic adjustments, nutritional support and muscle testing.

What do I get out of posting this referral? No Carol and John anre not paying me for this. In fact, I asked them if it was ok that I post a blog about their services on my web site! I truly want to share with my friends and readers my personal experiences and recovery story. Without chiropractic adjustments and deep tissue manipulation I might be paralyzed or even dead. Thanks to both fields of medicine and great specialists I am once again able to lead a normal life and go for walks.

And if you do end up going to see John or Carol… do tell them the little wet dog referred you… I will get a free session. So I guess it does pay to scratch someone’s back and get a scratch back (I just made a funny dog joke!). And for this little wet dog any scratches behind the ear are good scratches! Arf arf!

One dance with angels of rain

As the clouds came overhead on Friday April 25th, we ran from dinner at Las Palma’s to get home before the massive storm. We knew that the Little Wet Dog would be quivering under the table.

This is the cutest thing! She will never let a stranger into the house (she would destroy anyone who tried to enter without permission) and is the world best guard dog, and yet as a thunderstorm approaches and she is a puppy and likes to snuggle with mommie.

Around 7pm the mad storm rolled through northern Illinois, tearing through the suburbs without regret. We watched on the radar the red boxes flashed across the Dell computer monitor. As I stood at the window watching each drop fall and each sprinkle of rain sing their songs of joy, I had a moment of calmness.

This opportunity made me stop and think a moment about my life. Think about the mad rush through life… another wedding, another meeting, another portrait session, another communion, another something, another cup of coffee and you’re gone. (I wouldn’t change it for the world though!)  And yet, at that moment… I stopped. I stopped and waited. I waited for nothing. And nothing happened. The drop just stayed on the window. It didn’t have anywhere to go. No hurry. He just sat and waited. I waited for him and he waited for me. And yet we waited for nothing. My mind began to wander away and wander back. It was the peaceful sound of calm.

My 50mm lens and trusty camera provided me the chance to capture the most amazing image of a rain drop caught on a window screen – and I share that image with you my dear friends.rain-drop-on-window-sill.jpg

As the liquid angels subsided, I saw the amazing reflections of the street lamps upon the long puddles on the asphalt. I grabbed my Canon Digital Camera and, along with my EF 28 to 135mm lens, I ran out to get some amazing photos. The moment of peace still in my bones and soul, I rushed out to the fresh cool April breeze. All around me the drizzle came and I didn’t notice. Drop. Drop. Drop. I didn’t notice. My hair was drenched. My pants were wet and ruined. Before I realized it, I was lying on the ground, soaked all the way through, getting “that one perfect shot”.

I got it!

(Scroll past the picture for description of the image).

My artist’s eyes saw the dancing of my angle rain friend as if she were entrenched in a fox trot with the devil surrounded by the flames of Satan. The lights swayed back and forth singing “dance with me, dance with me” and the blue aurora filled the sky with its benevolent glory.

Tonight was a might fine night. A perfect night to live and a perfect night to dance. A perfect night to find appreciation and beauty all around. While the world continues to turn and another day approaches, I had but one last dance with the angels of rain.

Sunday is still a puppy showing no signs of old age

Yup…. None of the below symptoms for our old lady… well… ok… she is grumpy… and does sleep more… but me too!!! J  “One of the main signs of aging in dogs is the lack of physical energy.  Dogs slow down as they grow older.  They will rest and sleep more than they ever did before.  Because of this decrease in activity, your dog may have less of an appetite.  Another symptom of old age in dogs is the appearance of fatty tumors which are most likely benign.  You may also notice that your older dog doesn’t see or hear as well as he once did.  Just like people, dogs can act grumpy and old age can make them even grumpier.  Older dogs can also feel more vulnerable and startle easily by sudden movements or loud noises.  It’s a good idea to keep a close eye on the interaction of a small child with an elderly dog.  The child may accidentally frighten the older dog and cause him to bite or nip in defense.  “

Road Trip America from Chicago to Niagara Falls route

The Road trip America web site below is full of great ideas! Here is a good site to plan road trips…and photography road trips:
http://www.roadtripamerica.com/tips/scenic.htm

We are planning a road trip from Chicago to Niagara Falls! Any suggestions for things to see along the way? We would like to take a week to travel from Chicago to the falls and see a few things along the way. Museums are ok, but anything like a photography road trip would tickle my spirits.
