Health back recovery via chiropractor and neuromuscular massage customer review

———————————————————————————

As most people know I was involved in a car accident in the fall of 2004 while on a business trip in Singapore. Though I didn’t have any major complaints just after the accident, a few weeks later I started getting a pain in my neck and back. Within a month I was not able to sit in meetings and got back stabbing pains down through my hips. I was not bale to bend down or even pet the Little Wet Dog! I had to stop all exercise and nearly was not able to walk at all.

Today I am walking straight, sitting upright, playing with the little wet dog, and leading a normal life (well normal by my standards!). Was it a magical pill? Did I go to a witch doctor for healing? Was I touched by angels? Could have been all or none of the above, we will never know. But what I do know is that through a strong partnership with my doctors and personal effort and hard work from me I have been healed to about  90% of my best. I may not ever be at 100% of where I was when I was a teenager (but who really is?) but at least today I can walk without pain, take photos at a wedding for 14 hours, and bend into places to get that perfect portrait shot. Through visiting my chiropractor (including back adjustments 3 times a week) and some deep tissue work (about 1 time a week) I was able to sit and even went back to working out.

Below is the contact information for my current doctors… I strongly recommend both of these individuals.

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE:

Neuro Muscular Therapy

309 N. Lake St. # 206,

Mundelein, IL 60060,

* Ask for Carol and tell her the little wet dog sent you!

Carol is the owner and service provider and she is the best in the lake county. I have been seeing her for about two years and she has really helped me through a good deal of pain. She can find a knot in my back and straighten it out through minimal pain, and other times, when I haven’t been stretching as often, she knows and reminds me that it is a two way process. She has taught me stretching and ways to work out that far excel any personal training I have received at xSport fitness or Balleys. She runs a small business and is amazingly personable and knows her clients. This isn’t some large Wal-Mart type company but rather a professional and clean small office. After all, I have been going to Carol for years and even when she changed office she took her clients with her!

Please contact the Neuro Muscular Center directly for details on pricing and hours. Neuromuscular therapy is usually done with a prescription form a Doctor but not required. Call Carol and she will discuss your options.

CHIROPRACTOR:

Center Square Chiropractic

Dr. John Nikitow

207 E. Park Avenue

Libertyville. IL 60048

847-573-0272

*As for Dr. John Nikitow and tell him the little wet dog sent you!

John is incredibly detailed and thorough – the best in lake county and Libertyville. He incorporates general health care with his chiropractic adjustments. And to add to it, his customer service skills are great – small office and no large corporate hassles. He makes his own appointments, handles his own paperwork, and handles all of his clients. And if you want a responsive doctor who returns your phone calls within a few hours (even a few minutes in some cases) then this is the man you need to see. He is even willing to make a special trip to the office on his off days for emergencies – how many other doctors do you know would do that? You do not need to see a chiropractor for just a back injury, you can have regular adjustments to maintain healthy posture and healthy back strength. Along with regular work outs at the gym you can again have the strength of teenager (consult your doctor before beginning any new health regimen!)

Please contact the John Nikitow directly for details on pricing, hours and appointments. Dr. Nikitow does spinal correction for general health care (for the entire family) and for sports injuries using Chiropractic adjustments, nutritional support and muscle testing.

What do I get out of posting this referral? No Carol and John anre not paying me for this. In fact, I asked them if it was ok that I post a blog about their services on my web site! I truly want to share with my friends and readers my personal experiences and recovery story. Without chiropractic adjustments and deep tissue manipulation I might be paralyzed or even dead. Thanks to both fields of medicine and great specialists I am once again able to lead a normal life and go for walks.

And if you do end up going to see John or Carol… do tell them the little wet dog referred you… I will get a free session. So I guess it does pay to scratch someone’s back and get a scratch back (I just made a funny dog joke!). And for this little wet dog any scratches behind the ear are good scratches! Arf arf!

About out running a street cleaning truck with my new balance shoes

This morning the Little Wet Dog and I went for a run around the neighborhood. Before you read the rest of this article you have the see the photos of her deep in sleep. When asked if she wanted to go out, I received an astounding eye opening but not much else.

Guess it is true what they say about not disturbing princesses while they sleep. Or was that something about let sleeping dogs lie… or lay? ;)

During our jog we had to bump it up a notch. Turns out when we reached the middle of our run path, around the corner came a giant street cleaning truck. He was dry scrubbing the streets in our sub division. Little Wet Dog and I turned around and ran like bats all the way home. I knew that on a dry day like today, a street cleaner, lots of wind and a little wet dog could only amount to lots of smells and lots of dirt. “And we ran, we ran so far away… we had to get away” – name that tune!

If someone had been looking they would have guessed either we had gone insane or we being chased by a giant crazy pick axe cereal killer. Maybe even a serial killer! ;)

That is the story of my day… lots of dust and running. Now to eat some chips and salsa. I love my new balance shoes.

Vegetarian Eating

As you know, I had become a vegetarian a few weeks ago, actually 4. Since early February I have not eaten animal meat. Specifically we have only been eating vegetables and yummy additions such as rice, pasta, and cuscus. Below is my initial assessment of the lifestyle. This article in no way serves to try to convince any readers that either lifestyle or culinary choices is right or wrong. You are much too smart for me to persuade in either direction. Merely this is my summary of personal experiences. What have I seen to be the perks?

  1. I feel more awake all day long - no more afternoon slump
  2. I feel more happy – generally just happier about life
  3. I feel less guilty – I don’t look at my food at hear it talking to me (e.g. Lisa Simpson and the baby lamb).
  4. I eat more varied and creative foods – we have been using the long forgotten vegetarian cookbooks and found so many more recipes.
  5. I eat more flavorful foods – I find the vegetarian recipes allow the natural food flavors to come out without the fat or animal product sub taste.

What have I seen to be the cons?

  1. Initially I experienced significant stomach bloating. I was about twice the twice around the front area. But that soon passed.
  2. Additionally there was also gas. It’s not, pretty but yes there was more flatulence around the house.
  3. In the first few weeks, I could not get enough calories or food to stay full. I just ate all the time. Luckily eating a bag of carrots or broccoli isn’t in the same ball game as a bag of Cheetoh’s!

In about two to three weeks the above all went away and I feel healthier than ever. Thus far this new food lifestyle is working well for both of us on the health perspective. From the cost side it is about a break even. I find that I can wake easier, and don’t have mid afternoon drain. Many people have even commented that my humor is sharper and more witty (you will need to ask them to confirm if this is true). In any case, I’ll be posting timely additions and updates. Cheers.
