World of War Craft Sued But What About The Competition

INTRODUCTION:

So recently there was an article posted about how the maker’s of World Of Warcraft are suing small company MDY for copyright infringement.

SUMMARY OF LAW SUIT:

·        Blizzard and Videndi (WOW) – say that you cannot install the 3rd party software on the RAM when their programs requires you to use the RAM on your personal computer.

·        MDY (3rd party software) – claims that they are allowed to use RAM on your PC if you so chose.

SUMMARY OF SOFTWARE:

The 3rd party software would allow player’s to earn point or money buy having your character continue through in the game while you are away from your computer.

What does the Little Wet Dog think about that?!?!?

In essence, this is 100% outright cheating! Why should anyone be allowed to have their character build points while the person isn’t really doing anything. And by anything I mean not even sitting at the computer! It is the equivalent of putting a plastic dummy (no jokes please) of your body type with wig and business suit sitting in your office cube pretending to work. You can even place a robot there if you like clicking on the keyboard. Is that working? Nope. Cheating!

Remember back to the 80’s and 90’s – Super Mario Brothers, Legend of Zelda, Startropics, Metroid, Contra, Mike Tyson’s punch-out, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Debbie Gibson, Madonna (before she become a hot yoga babe), Bugs Bunnies Crazy Castle, Castlevania (and I’m not talking about my adventures through England), leg warmers and hair sprayed walls of bangs? You know you remember, just admit it!

So did you ever pay someone $100 to play Super Mario Brothers for you through the first 7 levels so that you could finish off the big boss at the end? Did you ever hire a grade school kid to play Tetris or Dr. Mario to get you speed and challenge? Did you hire the star athlete at your high school to run on the plastic matt while doing the running or Olympic games on the NES?

In fact, what would the Princess Zelda or Princess Toadstool have to say about that outlandish behavior? However, it does beg for the question of how this differs from using the Game Genie designed for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) back in the 1990’s. A person could have infinite lives to get through the levels or even finish the game. This took away from the spirit of the game and the competition itself. Do we really need an “Easy Button” for everything? Windows for dummies, computing for dummies, writing for dummies, and now world of warcraft for dummies? What is next, breathing for dummies? My point is not to dis the dummies books (heck I even own a few books myself). My direct point is to support the spirit of healthy education and competition. Gaming is about growing your skills sets in that world (imaginary or not) and then becoming a better character or better person. Now there is a short cut through that which gives some people an unfair advantage.

What makes this company get allowed to do this?

Dogs need adoption quickly or will be put down

There is a shelter closing in Marion, IN. All dogs not saved by the end of June will be put down. If you want a pet, this would be a great place to find one!

I just received the following email:
My name is Christie and I volunteer with Animal Education and Rescue in Libertyville.

We have a working relationship with a shelter in Marion IN and the
shelter manager there is a wonderful soul. They unfortunately are
closing at the end of June (roughly) and any animal there on that day
will be euthanized. 2 other volunteers and myself went down to take
pictures and bios of their dogs. We told them we would try to help
place as many as we could in rescue groups. We are reaching out to
all of the area rescues asking if anyone can help.

I chose to reach out to the bully breed rescues as I own a pit mix and am fostering a
pit bull and I LOVE them both dearly. I have included a link to the
pictures that Cindy Falstad took that day.
If you can help please let me know by phone
847-371-1147 or 847-404-8143. Transport will be provided.
Thanks in advance,
christie

wolf attack in mundelein blood

bloody wolf attack

All,

Interesting story…

I will be working from the couch on Wednesday and putting ice on my knee…

Story of my life… tonight around 10pm while Ben and I were walking the dog alone around the neighborhood, a stray wolf like dog (no joke, he looked just like a medium sized 70 pound wolf) came lurking out of the bushes as we turned the corner. As he saw us he started growling and lunged for the little wet dogs neck. I reached out to pull her out of the way, tripped on the sidewalk and fell on the concrete - rammed my right knee full force straight into the ground and braced the rest of my fall on my right wrist. Then he lunged for her again and must have nipped her or scared her she yelped out loud. I got up quickly and started swatting at the dog/wolf trying to scare him away and meanwhile tripped on the leash and fell full force on my left side bruising up my left palm and left knee this time. Right around now (took about 10 seconds) Ben realized what was going on – it was nearly dark and he didn’t see the dog/wolf attack us at first - so before he could react we were in full onslaught.

Finally, in desperation, he just started barking as loud as I could. He remembered that Tosa gets scared when his dad barked at her so he just started barking at this animal. Where did Ben learn to bark like that? This scared the wolf dog a bit or just freaked him out to see a human barking so I just moved back a bit while we slowly backed away. Luckily he just starred at us while we moved away and didn’t attack again. When we were far enough away and I saw that he wasn’t following us, Sunday, Ben and I hobbled on home (I hobbled, Ben and the little wet dog walked). I called the police to dispatch animal control so hopefully they got him. I feel bad for the fellah but don’t want anyone else hurt.

Sunday and I are both ok, no bites or rabies. But my knee is skinned up deep (cut through my pants as I hit the ground) and it is swollen from the impact on concrete. I’ll be working from the couch on Wednesday so I can put ice and heat on it - I’ll be working just not moving around much.

Anyway, thought it was an interesting enough story to share… though no pictures this time, sorry.

Below are the pictures from the day after… already cleaned and disinfected. The swelling and bruising has gone down a bit so I should be ok within 12.3 hours.
