Know why you want to do this?
Questions to think about as you work through your goals… you do have goals right…
• Why are you going into this business?
• Do you love photography?
• Are you a good business person?
• Are you a good sales person?
• Are you a wall flower?
• Are you able to make the financial investment?
• Do you dream about taking pictures?
Are you going into photography to get rich and retire early? You might be sorely disappointed, at least in the short term. Running your own business will require dedication, hard work, and lot’s of disappointment.
That is not to say that it is not worth going into – photography is a great career with many rewards. But before you can become a 6 figure photographer you will have to go head to head with some very talented people. Are you ready for the battle?
If you just like taking and sharing photos – ohh look at that pretty flower over there or ohh look at what my cute baby did today or look at the cute puppy catching the ball – then opening up a photography business may not be for you. You will need to work hard to get new clients, build a strong client base, follow up with leads, grow your business, bill clients, and run your business. And I stress the words run your business. This is the big leagues – if you want to do this as your main revenue source you need to make sure you dedicate yourself. And if you are going to spend 60 to 80 hours a week growing your photography business then you may as well do it because you love the business and you love photography.
But don’t take my word for it… feel free to explore
